“Why do my applications keep getting rejected?”

“How do you write a good competency answer?”

“What research should I include?”

“Do you have any top tips?”

“How can I stand out at an open day?”

I got these questions and literally hundreds more after one of my LinkedIn posts went unexpectedly low-level viral. I invited anyone on my LinkedIn network feeling hopeless and/ or overwhelmed with Training Contract applications to drop me a line, and I was completely inundated with responses.

I thoroughly enjoyed talking to everyone who messaged me. However, I realised I was answering the same questions over and over. So, to save myself time (and save my fingers from writer’s cramp) I decided to create this site.

The posts are written as though I’m talking to myself 3 or 4 years ago. I’m not a graduate recruiter; this is not expert guidance. But I have received some amazing advice from career mentors and Aspiring Solicitors. And I put this advice into action and managed to secure a training contract with a leading international law firm.

So this site is a sort of DIY manual. If I had to do it all again, this is how I’d do it…..
